Irving A. Cohen

Irving A. Cohen, MD, MPH is dedicated to the prevention of disease, focusing on action to prevent serious later outcomes. He saw medicine focusing on treating instead of preventing. He trained in and was Chief Resident of Preventive Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. He has been Board-Certified in Preventive Medicine and Public Health for over 35 years and is a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine.

Dr. Cohen served in many settings, and held faculty appointments at prestigious institutions. He created programs and wrote books concerning addiction, overweight, diabetes and the Covid-19 epidemic. He has presented at scientific forums internationally.

His early focus was intervention and recovery from addictive diseases. He then turned to reversing the epidemics of Type 2 Diabetes and obesity. As Covid-19 emerged, he saw that unequal risks of race and age were from underlying reversible causes. He wrote about Covid-19 to show people they are not helpless.
