Antoni Verger

Antoni Verger (Palma, 1975) is a senior researcher at the Department of Sociology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. A former post-doctoral fellow at the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (University of Amsterdam), Dr Verger’s research has specialised in the study of the relationship between global governance institutions and education policy. His most recent books explore the global spread of education reforms involving public–private partnerships, quasi-market dynamics and accountability measures, as well as the effects of these reforms in terms of education quality and equity.

Currently, he coordinates two European research projects related to these matters: “Public-Private Partnerships in Educational Governance” (Marie Curie Grant, 2013-2016) and "Reforming Schools Globally: A Multi-Scalar Analysis of Autonomy and Accountability Policies in the Education Sector" (ERC StG 2016-2021).
