Thomas Koepsell is Professor Emeritus and former Chair of the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Washington. He has conducted research on a wide variety of noninfectious diseases, including injuries, Alzheimer's disease and other neurological conditions, obesity, and arthritis, with an overarching interest in epidemiologic methodology. He is also Professor Emeritus in the University of Washington Department of Health Services and has applied epidemiologic research techniques to evaluating health promotion and disease prevention programs. Dr. Koepsell has nearly three decades of experience in teaching epidemiologic methods at the graduate level and has received three prizes for outstanding teaching. He is past President of the Society for Epidemiologic Research and serves as a statistical/methodological reviewer for JAMA, a leading medical journal.
