Gerard Mac

Gerard Mac was born in Hulme, Manchester in 1931, and at the outbreak of World War II was evacuated to Thornton-Cleveleys.

When he returned to Manchester he attended St Bede’s College, before pursuing a career in journalism, reporting locally and far afield.

After retiring from his position as the Managing Director of the Reporter Group of Newspapers in East Manchester, he began to work on his first novel, Bowie, a tale of family ties and revenge.

This was followed by three Historical novels: Pilgrims, The Way it Was, and Tell Them I’ll be there. Tell Them I’ll Be There relays the story of three brothers trying to find their feet in the mayhem of 1920s New York.

In 2014 Gerard went on to publish the Dogfather, a contemporary canine parody, to rave reviews.

Gerard lived in Wilmslow, Cheshire, with his wife and two daughters.
