Robin Squire

I'm an English author and screenwriter with publications spanning a fair few years. When I admit to being interviewed on BBC's Radio 1 by a youthful Terry Wogan about having my first novel Square One ("One of the better books about pop" - 'Time Out') - you'll understand that youthtime and I are calling to each other with ever-increasing plaintiveness, albeit with undiminished vigour (or so the doctor tells me). I have also written an occult thriller Portrait of Barbara, a reality novel about the ups and downs of making a film, The Making of a Britflick, and edited and collated the diary of a 14-year old London girl, holidaying in Hastings in the 1930s. My romantic novella set in Provence, Lavender Days: A life-affirming Anglo-American affaire in Provence, was published 12th October 2013. My Victorian detective story, The Mystery of the Stolen Brides - an Inspector Dearborn Case, is published by Little, Brown in the summer of 2014.

In between writing novels and screenplays, editing a magazine and adapting novels for the screen, I managed to fit in a stint as a Doctor Who Auton, as well as numerous walk-on parts in other productions.

Away from the keyboard, I adopt the persona of a louche singer called 'Martin Dean' (eat your heart out, Dean Martin), and form a duet with accomplished singer, actress and ukulele player Lynda Styan. We share a passion for the music of the 20s, 30s and 40s, and she is totally brilliant and runs rings round poor old 'Martin'.

I have several completed feature film screenplays* waiting to meet quality producers and directors with strong vision. All scripts are registered with the Writers' Guild of America for mutual protection and can be read on request. Following a send-out of an 'illustrated outline' of each by my agent to production companies, several are now being read with a view to production.

(*9 scripts are listed, two have already been optioned - with others attracting positive interest from industry professionals. See www.robinsquire.com)
