V.G. Bortin is the pen name of Virginia Bortin and her husband, the late George Bortin, who collaborated in writing Image of a Man: A Novel of the Shroud of Turin.
The Bortins spent five years researching the Shroud, including all known references to the relic throughout its 2,000 year history. George Bortin lectured extensively on the science and history of the Shroud. Virginia Bortin wrote about scientific experiments on the Shroud in an article for Biblical Archaeologist magazine. She was also the author of a syndicated newspaper series of articles about Old and New Testament archaeology.
Virginia Bortin is the author of several non-fiction books, including an award-winning biography of the American classical composer, Elinor Remick Warren. She has recently completed a second historical novel set in 19th century Egypt.
