Mike is of the opinion that:
We are born alone, we die alone, and in between we spend most of our lives Alone, trying to justify our ‘presence’ by seeking some measure of a self-serving sense of belonging and intimacy.
We spend our lives trying to justify our existence to ourselves, typically by asking, ‘So, What’s in it for Me?’. In doing so we waste a great deal of time, when we should be proactively seeking our ‘purpose’.
We live our lives with little-to-no clue, little intuition and no manuals or instructions on how to find our purpose. What we do have is an unidentified, to us, at least, roadmap provided by our genes. But even our genes place limits on us, enough so as to force us to ask, ‘Whatever Became of Jonathan Livingston Seagull in Such a Clearly Fruitcake World?’
Do we even have the capacity, i.e., ‘I Think, Therefore, I Am, probably wrong’, to define our lives for ourselves? Are we as smart as we think we are in attempting to build a life of authenticity wherein an authentic life is one where our needs are met, we feel fulfilled, we experience self-actualization, and we flourish!
