Melvin Claxton is an author, screenwriter and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist. He is a former national investigative reporter with the Chicago Tribune and Detroit News. Claxton is the first African American to be named in a Pulitzer Prize citation for Public Service journalism. His work has been honored by the Associated Press Managing Editors an unprecedented 10 times. Claxton is the co-author of Uncommon Valor: A Story of Race, Patriotism, and Glory in the Final Battles of the Civil War, published in 2006 by John Wiley and Sons. He is the author of the upcoming novel, The Plagiarist.

Claxton, a noted historian and trivia enthusiast, is the creator of the Great Bible Race, the world’s largest English language trivia video game. He also wrote the screenplay for the animated movie Orphan, which highlights the plight of a young boy orphaned by the Syrian conflict. No release date has been set for the movie.
