Sue George

Hello, I'm Sue George, UK-based book author and longtime journalist. Thanks for stopping by!

After many years when I wrote and edited all sorts of things – from travel, food and wellbeing, to global health and development – I'm now back to my first love: fiction.

I'm currently writing genealogy crime mystery novels, and have published several in a series featuring genealogist Karen Copperfield. Karen helps people make sense of the family secrets they uncover through at-home DNA tests like Ancestry.

Throughout my life, I've been interested in the extraordinary histories of ordinary people, and that's what I'm writing about in these novels. The characters might seem ordinary on the surface, but their pasts and – sometimes – their presents are anything but. In particular, I'm interested in women's choices, and how they lived during eras when those choices were more limited than they are now.

I've also taught journalism and gained a Master's degree in Life History Research. I'm a member of the Society of Authors and the Alliance of Independent Authors.

I live in London and, when I'm not writing, I enjoy gardening, singing, and researching my own family history. So far, I haven't found any secrets – welcome, or otherwise!
