Mary Howard's short fiction has appeared in The Ontario Review, the Georgia Review, and Intro. Her story "Father Me, Father Me Not," won Ms Magazine's first college fiction contest, and Story County Books, a small press, published a story entitled "Looking for the Hypnotist" in chapbook form. She was named an "outstanding writer" in the Pushcart Prize IX: Best of Small Presses and has been a Fellow at The Ragdale Foundation in Lake Forest, Illinois. While earning a M.A. in English at Iowa State University, she was supported by the Pearl Hogrefe Fellowship in Creative Writing. She lives in Portland, Oregon.
