David Chauner is recognized as one of America's most influential figures in the sport of professional cycling. As a cyclist, he competed nationally and internationally, medaled in the U.S. national championships six times and was a member of the 1968 and 1972 Olympic Teams. Since he retired from racing in 1975 he has remained actively engaged in the sport as a writer, television commentator and professional event organizer and was inducted into the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame in 1998 for his many contributions to the sport. He has published articles in many cycling magazines as well as Sports Illustrated and the New York Times. He co-authored the Tour de France Complete Book of Cycling (Villard Books, 1990). He is currently the CEO of World Cycling League. High Road is his first novel.
