Terry Smyth

Dr. Terry Smyth is an author and freelance education consultant. He worked for 18 years in the National Health Service as a nurse, manager and educator, mainly in the fields of older people and mental health. He later moved into further and higher education where, in addition to senior management responsibilities, he established the UK's first Masters Degree in Health and the Arts. In 2017, he completed a PhD examining the lives of children whose fathers were WW2 prisoners of war in the Far East. "Captive Fathers, Captive Children" was based on this research. Currently, he is a Community Fellow in the History Department at the University of Essex, UK.
