Journeys Through Grief: With and Without God, by Pat Sharp Brown, is a woman's narration of her journey though grief and pain at the loss of her two husbands. After a long and hard battle with cancer, Pat lost her husband of 27 years, and her best friend and partner for 30 years, Bob. During the time of Bob's sickness, as her own way of coping, Pat started a journal where she wrote her thoughts and feelings during this trying time. After Bob passed away, Pat grieved for him for a long time and over a year later, though still grieving, she finally accepted his death and started putting her life back together. She then met and fell in love with David and they later got married, but fate only allowed her 18 years with him. This book is a narration of her journey of grief and how she managed to make it through the trying times.

Journeys Through Grief: With and Without God is a profusely sad story and yet at the same time a very inspirational one about love and loss. The book tells a story of love, loss, pain, loving again, losing again and learning to live with the losses. I cannot even begin to imagine Pat's pain after losing her best friend of 30 years but for her to have to go through the same loss again is beyond anything imaginable, yet she was strong enough to survive. Through sharing her journal entries, Pat shared a very intimate part of her life in this book, making the story even more emotional. I could deeply feel her pain, her struggles. This book would be a worthy read for anyone struggling to deal with the loss of their dear ones, or even someone looking to help someone deal with such a loss.
