Dee Burton

Dee Burton, Ph.D., is a psychologist who is available during the pandemic to lead virtual workshops on quitting smoking. She has counseled hundreds of men and women in person on stopping smoking. She also developed the American Cancer Society’s FreshStart quit-smoking program and was part of the development team for the American Lung Association’s original Freedom From Smoking program. Dr. Burton was Chair of the Department of Community Health Sciences in the SUNY Downstate School of Public Health, where her research focused on approaches to help those most vulnerable to the effects of tobacco to stop smoking.

Dr. Burton was inducted into the Delta Omega national honorary society for public health in 1999.

Her books have been published by MacMillan, William Morrow, and Simon & Schuster.
