Ron Argo

Twenty-five years ago, Ronald Argo published Year of the Monkey, "one of the most important novels on Vietnam," (San Diego Union-Tribune) a story that paints a comprehensive and human canvas of the corruption and tragedy of that war. Before and after serving as an in-country military journalist in 2 and 3 Corp, Argo whiled away his time mostly as a student making do as a psych-ward aide, a prize-winning photographer, an award-winning newspaper reporter, a Florida Keys boat captain, a special-needs bus driver, a stock trader, a stay-at-home writing dad, and finally a lucrative gig restoring old houses. Of course he had a wage-earning spouse most of the time that allowed him to eat better than beans and tortillas.

Argo wrote The Courage to Kill and The Sum of His Worth, both historical thriller novels, and both recipients of awards for literary fiction. His latest thriller, Baby Love, winner of Library Journal's Mystery category in 2016, is the second in the Ray Myers series, following reporter Myers' investigative exploits as he chases a baby smuggling ring into the badlands of Baja Norte. As noted he spent some time escaping the real world earning three university degrees, a bachelor's in Journalism, a Masters in English Lit, and an MFA in fiction writing.

Argo lives with his wife Mary in a small community of San Diego where he tends his garden and sometimes writes.
