Bob Wurth

Australian author Bob Wurth has four historical non-fiction books to his credit. His websites are www.bobwurth.com and www.1942.com.au

He is a journalist and former foreign correspondent, former Manager for Asia and later Manager for Queensland for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Wurth was the 2009 Visiting Scholar to the John Curtin Prime Ministerial Library, Curtin University, Perth, and a 2009 fellow at the Australian Prime Ministers Centre, Canberra.

His latest book is Capturing Asia, an ABC cameraman's journey through momentus events and turbulent history, published by ABC Books (HarperCollins), Sydney, 2010. The book is about legendary ABC cameraman Willie Phua who saw the Japanese occupation of Singapore and later covered almost all of the major events that occurred in Asia since the 'sixties. Phua, from Singapore, was one of two TV cameraman who captured the images of the 'tank man' of Tiananmen Square, Beijing, in 1989.

In 2008 Pan Macmillan Australia published 1942, Australia's greatest peril, which is the true story of the imminent Japanese threat to Australia in 1942. The book has been reprinted three times, the lastest updated version is in the compact B format.

In 2006 Bob Wurth's book Saving Australia, Curtin's secret peace with Japan, was published by Lothian Books in Melbourne. The book tells of the extraordinary relationship between Australia's wartime leader John Curtin and the first Japanese ambassador to Australia, Tatsuo Kawai, in 1941-42.

Justice in the Philippines, Father Brian Gore, the Church, the State and the Military, published by ABC Books in 2006, was Bob Wurth's first book. It told the story of an Australian priest and his associates who were charged with mass murder on lawless Negros island in the Philippines in the 1980s.
