Alan Pope

Alan Pope is a retired educator and international aid worker, currently living in a small coastal town in New South Wales, Australia. He describes himself as a "hobby historian" who became interested in the interactions between white settlers and Australian Aborigines while teaching in rural South Australia 40 years ago. His early research led him to publish 'Resistance and Retaliation', an account of interactions between black and white residents in South Australia in the first decade of white settlement. While researching in the SA Supreme Court archives, he found that very little had been published about the legal history of Aborigines. His research over several years culminated in his 2010 book, 'One law for all', now also available on Amazon. After his retirement in 2013, he undertook further research into the court cases involving Aborigines in all Australian jurisdictions, leading to his wide-ranging 2020 work, 'White Justice'.
