Dave has had 11 different roles in Coronation Street; five in Emmerdale and has been in adverts for products as diverse as Maltesers and Volkswagen; Guinness and Hovis. He has appeared in long running sitcoms; done voice-overs; live theatre; radio presenting; scriptwriting; sung in a folk group and written or contributed to more than 15 books(some now available online).

He also played Bonjour Hellfire: an embittered and accident prone once famous ventriloquist who is best friends with the devious and devilish Elton the Snowman played by Rik Mayall in the gentleman's club setting of The Last Hurrah.
