I. C. Smith

I.C. Smith was born in Memphis, TN, but was raised, by grandparents in rural Ouachita Parish, LA. He graduated from tiny Calhoun High School and the University of Louisiana at Monroe. He is a Navy veteran, former police officer and spent over 25 years in the FBI, serving in St. Louis, Washington, DC, (twice) Miami, FL, and Canberra, Australia where he served as he Legal Attache for the independent nations of the South Pacific. He spent a year detailed to the Department of State's Diplomatic Security as Chief of Investigations, Counterintelligence Programs where he traveled to the Soviet Union, Nicaguara and China to conduct counterintelligence surveys. He retired as the Special Agent in Charge of the FBI for the State of Arkansas during the height of Whitewater. His book, INSIDE, A Top G-Man Exposes Spies, Lies and Bureaucratic Bungling is considered the most candid and insightful book ever written by a former FBI agent. He currently lives in Virginia's Tidewater region with his wife, a rescued cat and 3 Arabian horses.

The book he has co-authored with British author Nigel West, Historical Dictionary of Chinese Intelligence, will be published in 2012
