Tricia Cusack is particularly interested in how visual representations have helped to constitute cultural and national identities.
Her books include 'Riverscapes and National Identities' (Syracuse University Press, 2010) and three edited collections: "Framing the Ocean, 1700 to the Present: Envisaging the Sea as Social Space" (Ashgate 2014); "Art and Identity at the Water's Edge" (Ashgate 2012) and "Art, Nation and Gender: Ethnic Landscapes, Myths and Mother-Figures" co-edited with Sighle Bhreathnach-Lynch (Ashgate 2003). "Art, Nation and Gender" is now out of print, with just a few remaining copies being sold at astronomical prices.
Tricia recently co-edited "The Making of Landscape in Modernity" with James Koranyi, a special issue of the journal "National Identities" (Routledge September 2014). She has also published book and catalogue chapters and articles in various journals including: Art History; Nations and Nationalism; National Identities; the Irish Review and Journal of Tourism History.
