Venkataraman Nilakant was born in India, grew up in New Delhi India, studied at the University of Delhi, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, Indian Institute of Management, Kolkatta and the Case Western Reserve University, United States. He worked at the Tata Management Training Centre at Pune, India before moving to New Zealand in 1988. He teaches management at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. His books include Managing Organisational Change, Change Management: Altering Mindsets in a Global Context, Changing Tracks: Reinventing the Spirit of Indian Railways. He is interested in change, transition, and resilience. Nilakant is also interested in spirituality and mysticism. He has published a book titled Mahaan, which is about a mystic in India.
