Bettilu D. Davies

Bettilu Davies has worn many hats in her life. As a child, she was very musical, and she loved writing. She was very involved school and church activities. She didn’t particularly want to attend business school after finishing high school, but her parents insisted. They wanted her to be able to support herself throughout life. She thought she wanted to be a missionary “to deepest, darkest Africa.” As she matured, she realize God had other plans for her. She worked for the State of Michigan for a year before going to Moody Bible Institute, where she supported herself as a statistical typist. Her study load was heavy, and she finally had to drop out of school for health reasons.

Engaged by that time to Paul Davies, she worked at Moody Press as personal secretary to the Director. This was a job she loved. One of her favorite duties was to take any book she chose home with her and search for any corrections that could be made in future printings.

After her marriage, she worked in advertising, for a law firm, insurance, and making telephone directories. Some jobs she liked, and others, not so much. Teaching students to play the piano could be done out of her home—which she did for over fifty years. Now, readers, you have an idea of how old she is. Don’t tell. Paul and Bettilu have five children, fourteen grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

Bettilu has written the books listed here, but she has lots of other interests: painting, knitting, crocheting, and gardening are just a few. More important than anything else she does is praying for friends and relatives, her church, and her nation. There is nothing more powerful than prayer.
