It offers guidance for understanding the emotional side of disputes.

Peter D. Ladd, B.A., M.A., Ph.D., has been a tenured faculty member at St. Lawrence University in the Graduate School of Education for over twenty-five years. He coordinates the Certificate of Advanced Studies Program in Counseling, and has worked for thirty years in St. Lawrence University's satellite graduate school program on the Akwesasne Mohawk Reservation. Dr. Ladd has three books published in the area of social reform for Native people; Sharing Solutions: First Nations Social Reform, also, First Nations Child and Family Services Joint National Policy Review, and Comprehensive Research Findings in Education and Training: Aboriginal Strategic Initiatives. He has two books published in the area of conflict resolution; Relationships and Patterns of Conflict Resolution: A Reference Book for Couples Counseling and Mediation, Conciliation and Emotions: A Practitioner's Guide for Understanding Emotions in Dispute Resolution. He has one book published along with Kyle Blanchfield and Thomas Blanchfield called, Conflict Resolution for Law Enforcement: Street Smart Negotiating. He has written an award winning book in addictions and mental health counseling called Emotional Addictions: A Reference Book for Addictions and Mental Health Counseling. The book, Person-Centered Diagnosis and Treatment in Mental Health: A Model for Empowering Clients is another contribution to the field of mental health. He also has written numerous articles in the areas of addictions counseling, Aboriginal studies, family counseling, and conflict resolution, and has authored chapters in books by Carl Rogers, Freedom to Learn for the Eighties, Robert Morris, Students at Risk: Pitfalls and Promising Plans. Dr. Ladd acts as the licensed clinical supervisor for the Tekanikonrahwa:kon Holistic Health and Wellness Program on the Akwesasne Mohawk Reservation, where he has practiced counseling and conflict resolution for twenty-five years.
In 2014 he wrote a book with Kyle Blanchfield called Leadership, Violence and School Climate, and in 2016 he co-authored another book with Dr. Blanchfield called Mediation, Conciliation and Emotions: The Role of Emotional Climate in Understanding Violence and Mental Illness.
