Tom Maresca

Tom Maresca has been writing about wine for 30 years. He is the author of two wine books, "Mastering Wine" (which won the first-ever Clicquot Prize for Wine Book of the Year) and "The Right Wine." He is also the co-author, with his wife, Diane Darrow, of two books on Italian food, wine, and dining: "La Tavola Italiana" and "The Seasons of the Italian Kitchen."

During all that time he was a professor and eventually chairman of the English Department at Stony Brook University and has also published four books on academic subjects.

Now retired from academics, he remains an active wine and food journalist. He is a frequent contributor to Decanter magazine. He has entered the digital world with what has been called an important and serious wine blog, and has recently published, with his wife and co-author Diane, a mini ecookbook, "Not the Same Old Spaghetti Sauce."
