Brian E. Fogarty is Professor Emeritus of Sociology at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota. His lifelong interest in war, extremism, and other human ills arises out of a need to understand a simple paradox: that most of the evil in the world is perpetrated by ordinary, decent people--often out of virtuous motives.
As a break from this darkness, his latest writing project is a short book on the role of transportation in creating the modern world.
His newsletter, "Civics Lessons," can be found on Substack.
