Robert Hudson

Dr Robert Hudson is a UKCP registered psychotherapist, sex and relationship therapist, and certified Sex Addiction & Trauma Specialist. He is also a CSAT-S Supervisor, a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), and an accredited member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapy (COSRT). In addition, he is trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR) and is a member of the EMDR Association.

Robert works extensively with individuals, couples, and groups, offering therapy for a wide range of relational and sexual concerns. He has specialist expertise in sex addiction and compulsive sexual behaviour, supporting clients and their partners through recovery with evidence-based, compassionate approaches. He has successfully designed and facilitated treatment groups for both individuals and couples, including process groups, psychoeducational programmes, and ongoing support groups.

In his couples work, Robert helps partners navigate the challenges of intimacy, trust, betrayal, and recovery. He runs structured programmes, workshops, and retreats for couples, focusing on rebuilding trust, strengthening communication, deepening intimacy, and breaking cycles of shame.

Robert’s therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and direct, balancing empathy with structured guidance. Clients can expect a safe, inclusive, and non-judgemental space in which to explore difficult experiences. His practice is grounded in respect for client autonomy, diversity, sexuality, and equality, and he works with both heterosexual and same-sex couples.

Drawing on an integrative model of psychotherapy, Robert incorporates humanistic, psychoanalytic/psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioural approaches. This allows him to tailor therapy to each client’s needs while addressing both the immediate challenges and the deeper patterns that underlie them.

His professional background includes work in social work and community mental health, with extensive experience in trauma, abuse, child protection, and family systems. This has deepened his ability to support clients with complex trauma and relational difficulties at the intersection of mental health, intimacy, and recovery.

Alongside his clinical practice, Robert provides clinical supervision to other therapists specialising in sex addiction, trauma, and relationship therapy. He regularly delivers training, teaching, and talks to both professional and public audiences, sharing his expertise in sexual health, compulsive sexual behaviours, and recovery processes.
