Allen Steele

Allen R. Steele grew up in a family of five kids with working parents. As a result he mastered the art of diplomacy and flattery to get what he wanted in life. They all knew he was spoiled and would amount to nothing! He remembers his first school, a two-room wooden building where he tried to use the same tactics as in younger days but it backfired--he failed the first grade! It was an early shock but somehow he went on to complete high school, college and a doctorate in university, much to his family's and his surprise! Always watchful for opportunities, he grabbed a chance to work oversees to launch one of the largest religious international broadcasting organizations. His first assignment was in Portugal, followed by assignments to the island of Guam, Germany and England. It was in Europe where he wrote his first book, LOUD LET IT RING, a history of the first 25 years of AWR. From England he traveled to Australia to teach communication subjects on the graduate and undergraduate levels and while there became interested in his family history. This prompted his second book, THE FRENCH PILOT, an adventure about his fifth grandfather, a Huguenot ship's captain who deserted his homeland (France), sailed to England and then to New York. What's next? His latest book, Santa Fe 1880, is now available for order on Amazon from the History Press.. It tells the compelling story of Santa Fe, the New Mexico State Capital, in the words of people who lived during that year. Some of the most famous were Governor Lew Wallace, Billy the Kid, Archbishop Jean Baptiste Lamy and others.
