Jon Carlisle

Jon was born in Billericay, Essex, UK in 1962 to Mary & James Carlisle. Mary was a carer, auxillary nurse and a GPO-trained telephonist. James was a WW2 Royal Navy veteran of the Pacific Fleet and then a Ministry of Defence Exectutive, and later Higher Executive Officer in the Ministry of Defence.

From an early age (see chapter one) Jon knew he wanted to travel and also to help people where he could. In a way, this reflected his parents' lives. Both were caring souls and his father's occassional anecdotes from the Far East served to feed Jon's inherent curiosity about the world and about people's minds and spitits. Later he would also develop a fascination for the amazing physiology of the body.

Interested in both science and spirituality, which he now sees as 2 ways of expressing the same thing, his varied work history (hotels, teaching, police officer, therapist) and extensive travels eventually led him to his current role of Holistic Life-Coach, after qualifying in Psychotherapy & Hypnosis, NLP practitioner, Massage & Physiology.

In his work, he is able to draw on his own life experience, observations and insights, together with his more academic studies to help people realise their own strengths and potential.

Moreover, Jon sees life as a meandering journey of wonder, whether travelling geographically or by being in one place but open to learning and exploring through experience - a major point in his book, 'Meanderings'

After the death of his father in 2010, Jon promised his mother he would stay nearby until such time as she joined James. In June 2018, Mary passed peacefully away having spent the last of her 91 years at the beautiful Lochside Care Home in Helensburgh, Scotland.

Soon after, in December 2018, now aged 56, Jon set off again in search of new experiences. At the time of publishing this Kindle version of Meanderings, he is resting up on Nusa Penida, Bali having reached here on a 23,000 km overland journey from Scotland via England, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. From here his journey will continue on to the USA & South America... where we'll see what awaits!
