Al Zolynas

Al Zolynas was born in Austria of Lithuanian parents and raised in Australia. He has published six collections of poetry, two of which—UNDER IDEAL CONDITIONS and NEAR AND FAR—won the San Diego Book Award, Best Poetry. With Fred Moramarco he is co-editor of MEN OF OUR TIME: AN ANTHOLOGY OF MALE POETRY IN CONTEMPORARY AMERICA and THE POETRY OF MEN’S LIVES: AN INTERNATIONAL ANTHOLOGY (U. of Georgia Press). He is the translator (from Lithuanian) of THE PARALLELS OF DITA: SURVIVING NAZISM AND COMMUNISM IN LITHUANIA by Silvija Lomsargyte-Pukienė. Retired from university teaching, he lives in Southern California where he continues to write poetry, translate, and teach Zen practice.
