Tish Dace

Tish Dace, Chancellor Professor Emerita at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and winner of its 1997 Scholar of the Year Award, has published several books, reviews of several thousand plays, and over 200 essays, articles and book chapters. From 1980 to 1986 she was Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences of Southeastern Massachusetts University.

She chaired the Maharam Foundation/American Theatre Wing/Henry Hewes theatrical design awards for 18 years. She served on the Executive Committee of the American Theatre Critics Association, the Executive Committee of the International Association of Theatre Critics, and the editorial board of the Best Plays series. She was a New York theatre critic for thirty-two years and the New York critic for Plays International from 1986 to 2006.

She has published in such periodicals as the New York Times, London Times, New York Magazine, Village Voice, Soho Weekly News, Other Stages, Ms., Boston Phoenix, Vogue, American Poetry Review, New York Daily News, Playbill, African American Review, Back Stage, ADE Teatro and American Theatre. McFarland in January 2012 published her latest book, Martin Sherman: Skipping Over Quicksand.
