Robert A. Williams

After his tour in the U.S. Air Force and earning a B.A. in History from Walsh University in North Cantion, Ohio, Robert A. Williams received his M.Phil. in Sociology from the University of Wales – Bangor (now Bangor University) and his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, England. Currently a political/urban ethnographer and Senior lecturer at The University of Akron, his fieldwork on the evolution of alternative political parties and minority social groups, especially Libertarians, Muslims and Sikhs, grounds him in social conflict perspectives on culture, race, and social inequality scholarship informing Cultural Studies. With one leg in Boasian anthropology and the other in Jorgensenian sociology, Williams trains a critical eye on the corporative garrison state.
