Mark G. McLaughlin

“Someday, you make a game for me, Daddy?” That is what little Ryan McLaughlin asked her father, Mark, many years ago. He designed not one but two games for his daughter, and then wrote a novel based on the latter of those: " Princess Ryan's Star Marines." (His son, Campbell, designed the cover, and the book is available on Amazon.) Mark is currently working on a series of historical military fiction novels entitled " Throne of Darius." Seven in this series about characters (real and imagined) who fought against Alexander the Great have already been published (along with a book of short stories). Mark is currently working on an eighth book in the series, with one more planned after that.

A freelance journalist, Mark is also the author of two books on military history ("The Wild Geese" by Osprey Publishing and "Battles of the American Civil War" by Crown. (Both titles are available on Amazon). In addition, Mark is the designer of the computer game "Napoleon's Eagles" and has had 30 of his board game designs published (with four more in the works with publishers). The most recent of these games is "Ancient Civilizations of the Middle East" by GMT Games, "War and Peace 7th edition" by Avalon Digital, and "Mr. Lincoln's War" by Compass Games.

Mark also writes for many clients and publications. Although his principal work as a journalist over the last 40 years has been in foreign affairs, he also writes on topics ranging from travel and entertainment to serious position papers on international affairs.
