Mia Martin

Author Mia Martin has always had a great fascination and affection of animals; a love that was nurtured by her family and childhood in the Virginia hunt country. She is the author of Dog Heraldry, The Official Collection of Canine Coats of Arms published by Simon & Schuster which was launched at The Westminster Kennel Club Show in New York in 1996.

As the founder of the Dog Heraldry Society, Mia is widely acclaimed as the "foremost authority on Dog Heraldry". Mia spent years studying the origins and art of heraldry across the globe and has designed canine coats of arms for over 150 AKC registered breeds. It was through her initial passion for genealogy and ancestry and her involvement with various genealogical societies that inspired her book. But the real impetus was Mia's desire to honor canines of all pedigree including the Mutt with their own distinctive coat of arms.
