Derek Owens

I'm a writer, artist, and professor living on Long Island and teaching in New York City. My most recent book, Left Turn Tales, is a collection of 32 fictions and images. Before that I published The Villagers, a collaboration with collage artist Caroline Golden. Both books are a combination of fable, magical realism, horror, and science fiction. My earlier book Memory's Wake is an account of my mother's tragic girlhood growing up in the land of cults--the burnt-over district of New York state.
