F. J. Chu is President of Sage Capital Group, Inc., a private equity and investment management firm. An investment banker and investment manager, he has held directorships in numerous public and private companies and professional organizations. He is the author of six books as well as over 200 articles in professional and academic journals. Chu is also Principal of the Chinese School of Southern Westchester NY, a Chinese language and heritage school based in Scarsdale, NY.
Chu graduated with honors from Stuyvesant H.S., Yale College (magna cum laude, Distinction in the Major) and Harvard Business School (where he was selected as a Fellow in the Council for Opportunities in Graduate Management Education). After college, he worked as a Systems Analyst for the City of New York as part of a team that rescued the City from its fiscal crisis. From that experience, he developed a lifelong interest in management, finance and public policy.
In 2001, Chu was elected to the Rye City Council, becoming the first Asian American in New York State to hold elective office. In 2004, he was selected an APAICS Fellow in Washington D.C. Chu is a NYS Peace Officer, a former Rye City Auxiliary Police Officer and holds a black belt in kenpo karate.
Chu is a Licensed Psychoanalyst (LP) in private practice in New York. His other major interests include philosophy, classical guitar, the martial arts and basketball.
