Michael M. Yell

Michael M. Yell is a seventh grade social studies teacher in Hudson Wisconsin. In 1998 he was named The National Social Studies Teacher of the Year by the National Council for the Social Studies, and in 2003 received National Board Certification. He was elected president of the National Council for the Social Studies in the 2008-9 school year, and frequently conducts training sessions and workshops in engaging teaching strategies.

Most recently Michael wrote "Link to the Past: Engaging Students in the Study of History" (published by NCSS in 2005), and often writes for educational journals (particularly "Social Education" published by NCSS). He blogs on history teaching strategies for teachinghistory.org, and was an author of the new Pearson Middle School World History textbook myWorld History (to be released in 2011).

Michael loves teaching social studies to seventh graders in the House of Avalon, Hudson Middle School!
