Rick Ortenburger

Rick Ortenburger through the years; I was born near Los Angeles and I grew up there. I was drafted into the US Army in February 1969 and somehow wound up in Wertheim, Germany in August, 1969. In October, 1969 I met a German girl, in August 1970, less than a year later Elfi and I were married in Bürgstadt, Germany her hometown. I am still married to her. In February 1971 we returned to Los Angeles where I went back to a job that I had prior to my Service; I worked for Hughes Aircraft Company (Howard Hughes, the Aviator) from the years 1967 to 2004 when I retired and we moved to Utah. I have been a Family History Researcher from the years 1981 to 2019. I am a volunteer for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation in Salt lake City, Utah from the years 2005 to 2019. I run, fundraise and support the Huntsman Cancer Foundation 7 various events. I am known as “Photo Guy Rick” in the Huntsman circles. I am a researcher, writer & author of 41 books from the years 1979 to 2019, many of them on my family history. I started running in 1978 on my 30th birthday. I have been blessed with the fact that I have never had to stop (well mostly). We are now retired, but I am just as busy now as I was when I worked full time with all of my hobbies, volunteering and projects that I work every single day. We return to Bürgstadt, Germany almost every year now, it’s our vacation.
