Her Motor City drama, car men, a play in d, was staged at the Detroit Institute of Arts in Detroit, under the direction of Carla Harryman in 1996. Night Scales, A Fable for Klara K was staged at the Hilberry Studio Theater in 2010, under the direction of Aku Kadogo.
She is a recipient of a 2003 National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and a 2010 Kresge Artist Fellowship. On the faculty of the English Department at Wayne State University, she teaches creative writing and women’s studies. She has given numerous readings in New York, Los Angeles, Boulder, San Francisco, San Diego, Paris, Prague, and elsewhere.
