K. Maynard Head

K. Maynard Head was born and raised at the foothills of the Pinnacle, a saddle in the Cumberland Mountain range where Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia converge. It is there at Cumberland Gap, arguably the first "Gateway to the West," where Daniel Boone, Dr. Thomas Walker, and thousands more blazed a trail through the wilderness.

"Brogans, Clothespins, and A Twist of Tobacco" recounts life experiences of the author from those rugged highlands. Deeply woven in the fabric of his life come the tidbits of bygone days. He tells of homes before electricity, of wash tub baths, and of inkwells, penpoints, and blotters.

K. Maynard Head is a graduate of Clear Creek Baptist Bible College, Pineville, KY, Cumberland College (now University of the Cumberlands) Williamsburg, KY; and earned a Masters degree and a doctorate from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN.
