Charles Wilkinson

Charlie is making the most of his semi-retired years. Born in Baltimore, MD, an identical twin, he entered the seminary at age 13 and was ordained a Redemptorist priest in 1962. He taught in a seminary in Connecticut for ten years before leaving religious life. He married, finished his doctorate at Northwestern University and eventually became a marriage/family therapist in Northbrook, IL. He and Kathleen (Galvin) have theree grown children and one grandchild.

Charlie is the author of a children's book, "The Dumb Thumb" (Academy Press, Chicago - OP), "Speaking of...Communication," a high-school text, both published in the mid-'70's. Last year he self-published on createspace.com "Contemplations in the Sometimes Quiet of a Hospital Room," and this year Xlibris released "Liam the Leprechaun," a story for the child in everyone.

A columnist for the Evanston (IL) RoundTable, evanstonroundtable.com, Charlie is finally finding the time he seldom had during the "busy years." A certified technophobe, he is feeling both challenged and stretched by today's electronic wizardries, though he still prefers a phone to be a phone, a camera a camera and email waiting at home. He is saving the alien talent of multi-tasking for another life. But give him a blank page, an idea and time and he will be right where he wants to be, except when it comes to family, friends and "doing" breakfast or lunch with the guys.

One other piece: he is also part of a virtual community (on-line) of former Redemptorists, their wives and friends who give and hopefully share with him the feeling of being "church" in the best sense of the word.
