Sharing a passion for travel and adventure, Ray Brooks, and his wife, Dianne, have explored the world together, and spend most of their winters in the foothills of the Indian Himalaya, where they both write, hike and Dianne studies Iyengar yoga.
Ray's most recent book, 'The Shadow that Seeks the Sun: finding joy, love and answers on the sacred river Ganges.'
This memoir takes the reader on a vibrant and fascinating journey to India, and through the authors lively, humorous and insightful adventures, points us to the imagined separate self that seeks its true nature.
Ray Brooks is also a musician and recording artist, who is internationally known in the world of shakuhachi music for his much loved memoir "Blowing Zen," finding an authentic life. He has studied with two of Japans greatest shakuhachi masters and performed throughout Japan and overseas.
Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and raised by his grandparents in a small mining village, he developed strong survival skills, and a love of nature at an early age. After their death, Ray, at the age of sixteen moved to London and eventually met his wife Dianne.
Dianne was, born in Oxford, England, and is the co-writer of The Shadow that Seeks the Sun and co-writer/creative editor of Blowing Zen: Finding an Authentic Life. Vist Ray's web page at
