Barbara Cairns

Barbara Cairns, a New Englander, is a former teacher and retired elementary school principal who worked in Department of Defense schools in Labrador, Germany and Panama before retiring to Florida with her Englishman husband, Ian. Her children's books include a picture book art series, GATSBY'S GRAND ADVENTURES, and a rat therapy picture book, THE NOT SO SECRET LIFE of NIMH, A DUMBO RAT. She also has published CRACKER COW, A NARRATIVE of FLORIDA HISTORY before debuting her first adult novel, NETTIE'S DREAM, followed by her second novel, RACHEL'S NEXT CHAPTER. Her two middle grade novels include, ABBY'S ATTRACTION and KATE'S SECRET. Her newest release is the first in a geography picture book series: WHERE IN THE WORLD IS . . . LABRADOR AND NEWFOUNDLAND where Safari Sal takes readers from a different state in the U.S. in each book to an adventure overseas. Barbara is an animal lover, so when she's not writing, she's volunteering at the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park.
