Tom Anderson

After getting a degree in wildlife biology I worked for nearly 30 years with the Science Museum of Minnesota as a naturalist and later the director of the Lee and Rose Warner Nature Center. During that span of years I also wrote an award winning newspaper column called Reading Sign for 14 years. Whether I am poking around in the desert Southwest, canoeing an arctic river or slipping along a South American jungle, my published writing revolves around my love of the natural world.

I am the fifth generation Anderson to live on a piece of the family farm in east central Minnesota. I am grateful for the opportunity to live in the house that my great-great Swedish grandfather built. This land has played a mighty role in charting my life's direction.

My books include: Learning Nature by a Country Road, Black Bear: Seasons in the Wild, Things that Bite: The Truth about Critters that Scare People (Regional Editions include: Great Lakes, Southwest, Gulf Coast and Rocky Mt.), Northern Lights: A Guide to Nature's Spectacular Light Show.

Stay tuned as I am working on a handy AdventureKEEN guide book on foraging for edible and nutritious plants easily found around your neighborhood.
