David A. Pretty

Born in 1942,a native of Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll, Anglesey, Wales, David A Pretty was educated at the local primary school, the David Hughes County Secondary school, Beaumaris, and the University College of North Wales, Bangor. After graduating, he gained an MA degree, and in 1986 was awarded the John Roose Williams Prize for an historical study of the Anglesey Workers' Union.He is the author of several books and articles (in Welsh and English)on various topics, including education, Liberal Nonconformist politics, Mormon emigration from mid-Wales, and the trade union movement in both rural Wales and the south Wales coalfield.
