David M. Earle

David M. Earle is the editor of Where All Good Flappers Go: Essential Stories of the Jazz Age (Pushkin 2003) and the Oxford Online Bibliography on Popular Magazine of the Early 20th Century (2022). He is author of Recovering Modernism: Pulps, Paperbacks, and the Prejudice of Form (Routledge), about the popular publishing of modernist literature, and All Man!: Hemingway, 1950s Men's Magazines, and the Masculine Persona (Kent State University Press, 2009), which uses Hemingway and 1950s men's magazines to explore hyper-masculinity after the second world war. Earle has published extensively on the history of magazines, popular publishing, pulps, and authors including James Joyce, William Faulkner, and Joseph Conrad. A native of Cleveland and Sun Valley, Idaho, he is currently Professor of Transatlantic Modernism and Print Culture and Chair of the Department of Art & Design at the University of West Florida.
