Michael Ayers has over thirty years of experience in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors in a variety of roles. He has designed and implemented 'hard' technical information systems, and he has designed and delivered innovative 'soft' staff/leadership development systems. He left the corporate world in mid-2002 (when his job was eliminated) to pursue his interests in consulting, especially in the realms of public education and nonprofit organizations. He sort of re-joined the corporate world (on a consulting basis) after a regime change made his work valuable again.
His principal area of interest and expertise incorporates "leadership development" broadly understood. Michael serves as an adjunct faculty member at Hamline University in St. Paul, MN, in its Graduate School of Education. He also serves as the Board Chair of Family Networks, Inc., a metro area nonprofit.
Michael received a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from The College of St. Catherine, in St. Paul, MN in 2002. He did his undergraduate work at the University of Minnesota, completing unmarketable but enjoyable baccalaureate degrees in English and American Studies. He also served 3 1/2 years in the U.S. Army in the early 1970s. He lives with his spouse of 40+ years in Minneapolis MN. They have two grown and happily married daughters.
