Gordon Mathieson

Gordon has had an interesting and successful journey. He grew near the center of Boston (North Quincy). At seventeen he was selected by the USAF to attend Yale University to study Mandarin Chinese and work in the field of Air Force Intelligence.

After serving, he later found an interest in computer software programming and made his career in that field---- most of which was back on the Yale campus as the Director or Information Systems.

He retired early to Cape Cod, and invented an educational and fun trivia board game THE CAPE COD CHALLENGE. The game won many awards.

Later, although he was published many times during his tenure at Yale, he switched to writing fiction in his favorite genre, --- mystery thrillers.

He uses the Greater Boston area as the setting for most of his mystery novels.

He has published 11 titles.

"Beijing to Boston" was co-authored with US High School Mandarin teacher, Hengjia Liu, from Dalian, China. The story features 2 female teens, Lanhua Chang and Kayla Forest in a cultural exchange program. Fall term in US, Spring term in China. This entertaining, fun to read novel is published in English and Chinese inside the same covers.

Gordon is now adapting this unique, funny "cultural bridge" novel into a feature film or weekly TV series for teenagers and their parents.

He blended his knowledge of the Chinese language into his Young Adult "Becky Bing Mysteries". He is the first American author to use Chinese characters, with Pin Yin Romanization and English translation in novels' dialogue where appropriate. He is a long time advocate to provide access to US students to have Mandarin offered in their schools. language.
