John Fleming

John Fleming is a retired academic. After completing his undergraduate degree in politics and psychology (University of Adelaide), and his Licentiate in Theology (ACT), he completed his PhD (Griffith University, Queensland) in philosophy and medical ethics. He was Foundation Director of Southern Cross Bioethics Institute (1987-2004), a foundation member of UNESCO's International Bioethics Committee (Paris 1993-1996), and has served on many Australian Federal and State government policy advisory committees in Australia. He was an elected delegate to the Australian Constitution Convention (1998), a member of the Council of the National Museum of Australia (2003-2009), and Foundation President of Australia's first liberal arts college, Campion College, Old Toongabbie, NSW (2004-2009). John was a Corresponding Member of the Pontifical Academy for Life (Vatican, 1996-2016). He is the author of nine books and many articles on bioethics and public policy.

John is married to Alison (since 1975), and together they have three children and three grandchildren.
