Grady E. McCright arrived in New Mexico from Texas in 1966. He was immediately enamored with both the country and the history. In 1882, he and co-author James H. Powell published JESSIE EVANS, LINCOLN COUNTY BADMAN, Creative Publishing Company, College Station, Texas. He also has written two Kindle only non-fiction historical books. The first is entitled CAUSE AND EFFECT, FRANK WARNER ANGEL'S FEDERAL REPORT ON THE LINCOLN COUNTY WAR and THE WHIRLWIND, JOHN LAPHAM BULLIS AND HIS SEMINOLE-NEGRO SCOUTS. Over the years, McCright has written and published 6 additional books of western fiction and western-historical fiction under both his own name and the pen name of Ira Compton. All of these fiction books are available in paper and Kindle format from Amazon. After a more than 32 year career with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), McCright and his wife Marie retired to Cloudcroft, New Mexico in 1998
