Thomas R. Smith

Thomas R. Smith is a poet, teacher, and essayist who lived in western Wisconsin. He has published ten books of poems, most recently Storm Island (Red Dragonfly Press, 2020) and Medicine Year (Paris Morning Publications, 2022). He has edited several books, most recently Airmail: The Letters of Robert Bly and Tomas Tranströmer (Graywolf Press). His prose book Poetry on the Side of Nature: Writing the Nature Poem as an Act of Survival is forthcoming from Red Dragonfly Press. His work has been published internationally, and his poems have been featured on Garrison Keillor's The Writer's Almanac.
